Treatment For Corns And Callouses

Calluses and corns occur from repeated pressure on or rubbing the skin of your feet. This can happen from wearing high heels or other uncomfortable or ill-fitting shoes, or they can occur simply from the way you walk.  In addition, corns and callouses can occur from not wearing socks with shoes. Calluses form when the body tries to protect the area from further damage by building up layers of hard skin. This can make the area painful, especially if the pressure is not relieved.

If you have a callus or corn that is causing you pain, call Amy McElveney Podiatry for an appointment. Our dedicated podiatrist team has various treatment options to suit every situation. With the right help and treatment, we can help to relieve the pressure and pain caused by corns and callouses and prevent further damage.

Treatment For Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can be transmitted from person to person in communal areas where people are barefoot. HPV virus enters the body through cuts or breaks in the skin on the bottom of your feet and can lie dormant for months or even years. You may not know you have HPV until you are run down, ill, or stressed and your body's immune defences are down. Plantar warts often appear as a raised lesion, called cauliflower warts, due to their resemblance to the vegetable. They can become painful when walking due to their location on the bottom of your feet.

At Amy McElveney Podiatry, we offer treatments to reduce or remove warts and advice to prevent them from returning.
